Spice Mix for Beef (Rundvlees)

Preparation
(for 4 people): cut 800 g beef (rib) into large pieces and season with approx. 1½ tbsp (16 g) of the Verstegen spice mix, let it marinate for a while. Heat a frying pan with 4 tbsp (sunflower) oil and fry the meat briefly over high heat until brown. Lower the heat and deglaze with approx. 300 ml of water. Let the meat stew on low heat for about 2-3 hours with the lid on the pan. Add extra water if necessary while stewing. Turn the meat every now and then.
Variation tip: for a spicy twist: add 1 tbsp sambal and a dash of ketjap / soy sauce. The stew is also ideal for a fries stew. Pull the meat apart with a fork and serve with fries / chips and mayonnaise / chips sauce.
